Our school
astronomical observatory has been working since 1998. It is
built on the plain roof of the school building. The main
instrument is the Cassegrain telescope with the mirror
diameter of 25 cm. 3 telescopes stand under the transparent
roof, which can be drown aside.
The name of
our high school (or lycee) is II Liceum Ogólnokształcące im.
Mikołaja Kopernika w Głogowie. Our rather small town –
Glogow – is located on the river Odra (in Lower Silesia,
southwestern Poland). We work with teenagers from 17 to 19
in our school but both much younger and much older people
take part in different observatory activities. Only one
person works in the observatory – the physics teacher Ludwik
Lehman.
Our observatory actively takes part in
Hands-On Universe program. We are specially
interested in WEBCAM ASTRONOMY.
Although our
website is mainly in Polish we invite you to look at it more
closely. Some links are in English – for example FIST LAW.
You may look at all images that are easily understandable
for all people regardless of their languages. We specially
advise you to take a look at our photos of the Moon (Księżyc
in Polish), Mars, Jupiter (Jowisz) and Saturn, all made by
teenagers using a simple webcam. Of course you may also look
at our images of atmospheric phenomena (zjawiska
atmosferyczne), everyday (or rather everynight) life in our
observatory (życie w obserwatorium) and many other links.
